Oculus Rift Set to Help Clean Up Bay Area Streets
Oculus Rift developers today announced a new program to give Bay Area Oculus Rift owners the appearance of a middle class and a social safety net.
“We worked with Pokemon and Google Maps to let people wear their Oculus headsets in San Francisco and they can walk through the Tenderloin and see what American society would look like a progressive tax system.” Said Roger Weatherstone, lead VR software developer of the Oculus Ignore app.
“By geotagging other Oculus wearers, users don’t even have to remove their headsets to have a conversation with their friends. And, the best part, homeless people and the detritus from their drug use and mental illness appear as cartoon villains you avoid to earn points and get your step count up. We really see this as a way for people who can afford an Oculus to insulate themselves from the suffering of the poor and aid the further unequal distribution of wealth.”
