Newly Created Accelerator Executive Team Scours Star Trek: TNG Re-runs for The Perfect Accelerator Name

With most of the gibberish names taken for existing accelerators, the executive team of The Valley’s latest faux business fostering entity is watching Star Trek: The Next Generation re-runs to find a name.

“Amil used to run lunch-and-learns at MIT’s DeltaV, and Joan successfully bankrupted two YCombinator companies, so they know the accelerator business. They also helped convince the MassChallenge folks that a for-profit model would be better for several wealthy investors and large corporations, even if it complicated the ethical dynamic of running the program. But moreover, there’s no one better than Emil and Joan to watch all 7 seasons of Star Trek TNG to find our new name. I mean, they’re passionate about getting this name right. We want to attract innovative new companies and rob them of equity early, so an attractive name is important.” Said Rob R. Baron, the venture capitalist and founder of the entity.

When asked, Joan LaForge said some of the options in the running for the new accelerator’s name include: Warp Core, YRomulans, Lieutenant Commander Data, Techstar Fleet Academy.

For his part, Amil Johnson said, “look, if we get through all 7 seasons of TNG and have to go to the feature films of the Next Generation to find a name, we’ll do it. At this point I don’t think we’re willing to go to Deep Space Nine, but we’ll cross that bridge if we come to it.”
